Gross Lohner in the area of the Kandersteg community |
The Lohner also Gross Lohner called in atlases of swisstopo under the dialect name Loner listed, is a calcareous mountain range in the Bernese Oberland ( canton Bern of Switzerland ) which has several peaks, from northeast to southwest:
- Nünihorn ( Nünihore ) 2717 m above sea level M.
- Hindere Lohner, 2929 m above sea level. M.
- Middle wage earners, 3002 m above sea level M.
- Vordere Lohner, 3,049 m above sea level M.
- Mittaghorn ( Mittaghore ) 2678 m above sea level M.
The Lohner massif is located in the Bernese Alps east of Adelboden in Engstligen and southwest of Kandersteg in Kandertal . Directly to the north, separated by the Bunderchrinde , borders the Chlyne Lohner and Bunderspitz massif .
The first tourist to climb the Lohner was C. Dürheim from Bern in July 1876. In August of the same year, four members of the Alpine Club found a bottle with the names of the two Kandersteg mountain guides, Ogi and Hari, dated 1875 during another ascent.
About halfway up the rock face is the Lohner hut , which can be reached by experienced mountain hikers without actually climbing.
The mountain with many scree slopes can only be climbed via its three ridges. The Mittlere Lohner can also be reached from the Lohnerhütte in a challenging climb through the rock face. For those with a head for heights, we recommend the very nice tour from the Lohnerhüttli via the Mittaghorn and Westgrat to the main summit.
