The ESV (Eisenbahner Sport Verein) Schwerin is a sports club in Schwerin with a focus on fistball , handball and soccer . In fistball, the club's teams play in the Bundesliga North (women) and in the 2nd Bundesliga East (men).

history

The history of the club begins in 1949 with the establishment of the company sports association Lokomotive Schwerin. In 1978 the association had 1,320 members, 59.2% of whom were children and young people. In July 1990 the club was renamed to Eisenbahner Sportverein Schwerin eV In 2009 the club had around 500 members.

Departments

In addition to fistball, soccer and handball, the club also offers inline skating, volleyball, gymnastics and water sports. In the soccer field, however, only youth teams from G-Juniors to D-Juniors are supported.

By 1991, the club's fistball players had won 42 GDR championship titles, plus four fistball masters in the East that had been won in 1991.

In addition, the following sporting successes have been achieved in the female youth sector in recent years:

In addition to the "Friesensportplatz" sports field in Schwerin-Lankow , the ESV uses several of the city's sports halls.
