Local railway Deutschbrod – Tischnowitz

The local railway Deutschbrod – Tischnowitz (Czech: Místní dráha Německý Brod – Tišnov ) was a private local railway in today's Czech Republic . The route led from Havlíčkův Brod (formerly Deutschbrod / Německý Brod ) via Přibyslav and Žďár nad Sázavou to Tišnov .

history

On November 8, 1897, the concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Deutschbrod station of the kk priv. Austrian Nordwestbahn via Přibislau to Saar was granted. The company operated as the local railway Deutschbrod – Saar (Czech: Místní dráha Německý Brod – Žďár ) and took the Deutschbrod – Žďár line into operation on December 22, 1898. Later the company also received a concession to continue the route towards Brno . On June 23, 1905, the Žďár – Tišnov line was opened.

The operation was carried out by the kk Austrian State Railways (kkStB) on behalf of the local railway Deutschbrod – Tischnowitz . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD took the place of the kkStB .

On January 1, 1925, the Deutschbrod – Tischnowitz local railway was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

Only the Žďár nad Sázavou – Tišnov line is in operation today. The section Havlíčkův Brod – Žďár nad Sázavou was given up in 1953 in the course of the new construction of the double-track main line Brno – Havlíčkův Brod . However, part of the original route still exists today as a connecting railway for local industry and is used for museum railway operations on a 10 km long section near Sázava .

Vehicle use

The kkStB procured two locomotives of the 178 series and six of the 97 series for the account of the local railway Deutschbrod – Tischnowitz . The locomotives had the company numbers 178.76–77, 97.149–151 and 97.237–239.
