The Lomnitztalsperre (Karkonosze zapora; Zapora na Łomnicy, also: Dam Bridge Hill) near Karpacz (Karpacz, Lower Silesia) is close to the Schneekoppe (Śnieżka), the largest mountain in the Giant Mountains , in the valley of Łomnica ( Big Lomnica ) in southwestern Poland .
The dam was built after the experience of the disaster flood of 1897 for the purpose of flood protection . The reservoir is comparatively small.
The curved gravity dam made of quarry stone masonry corresponds to the Intze principle . It has a flood relief with five openings in the middle of the dam .
