The Lone Rock (from English lone , alone, single, lonely ' ) is an isolated cliff rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises from the Bransfield Strait south of the eastern end of Nelson Island .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1935 and gave it its descriptive name.
