The English term longsleeve ( English : long - long ; sleeve - sleeve ) describes an item of clothing that is similar to a T-shirt , but with long sleeves . The terms long-sleeved or long-sleeved shirt are also often used.

Like T-shirts, long sleeves are made of thin fabric and typically have a rounded neckline . The cut is comparable to that of a pullover , but often a bit narrower and more tailored. Large lettering or fashionable design elements are usually printed on the chest surface of a long sleeve. Especially in the metal scene , long sleeves with symbols of music groups ("band shirts") have established themselves as a kind of identification mark. Wearing long sleeves under a conventional T-shirt is also considered fashionable. This appearance is sometimes imitated by some designers by sewing long sleeves with a clear transition on T-shirts.

Some shops and manufacturers use the term long sleeve sweater as an explicit name for a sweater with long sleeves.
