Looking Back with Love is a solo album by Mike Love , one of the founding members of the US band The Beach Boys . It was released in 1981 by the Boardwalk record company.
Emergence
Mike Love began working on a solo album back in 1977. The album First Love contained a number of self-written songs. However, it was rejected by the record companies because of allegedly poor quality. A song from this period - Sumahama - appeared on the Beach Boys' album LA (Light Album) in 1979 .
In 1981 Love made a second attempt to release an album of his own. Bandmate Carl Wilson was also working on his solo album, Beach Boys projects were not planned at the time. The producer was Mike Love Curt Becher, who had produced the Beach Boys single Here Comes the Night (USA # 44) in 1979 . Mike Love contributed only one song as co-writer for his album. Are included on the album a number of cover versions , including the Abba -Song On and on and On written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and a new recording of Phil Spector -Hits Be My Baby , which the band members Brian Wilson co- was produced; Wilson also sings a choir part on this song.
Mike Love recorded the album in his studio. None of the leading record labels showed any interest in this work. Only the Boardwalk label was ready for a release. The album didn't make it into the charts.
