Lord Abercrombie
Lord Abercrombie was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was awarded on December 12, 1647 to the Scottish knight Sir James Sandilands . He led a lavish life and in 1649 had to sell his Newark Castle and other lands in Fife to pay off his debts. The title finally expired in 1681 when his son of the same name, the 2nd Lord, died unmarried and impoverished.
