Lord Balfour of Burleigh

Lord Balfour of Burleigh , in the County of Kinross , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .
The historic family seat of the Lords was Burleigh Castle near Kinross , which is now in ruins.
Award
The title was created on July 16, 1607 by Letters patent for Sir Michael Balfour . In the absence of male heirs, the title is also hereditary in the female line.
The 5th Lord was stripped of the title in 1715 after taking part in the Jacobite revolt . It was not until 1869 that his great-great-grandson was able to restore his title as 6th Lord.
Today's title holder is his descendant Robert Bruce as the 8th Lord.

Suspected Title heir ( heiress presumptive ) is the daughter of the current title holder Hon. Victoria Bruce Winkler, Mistress of Burleigh (* 1973).
