Lord Ochiltree

Lord Ochiltree was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .

Award and history of the title

The title was on June 9, 1615 by King James VI. created for James Stewart . His cousin Andrew Stewart, 3rd Lord Stewart of Ochiltree (1560-1629), who later became 1st Baron Castle Stewart , had renounced the eponymous feudal barony of Ochiltree in East Ayrshire in 1615 in his favor .

The title expired when his younger son, the 2nd Lord, died unmarried and childless on February 12, 1675.
