Lore Reich Rubin , b. Reich (* 1928 in Vienna ) is an American psychoanalyst of Austrian origin.

Life

She is the youngest daughter of Wilhelm Reich and Annie Reich , née Pink. In 1938 Annie Reich, a very well-known left-opposition activist in the circle of the psychoanalyst Otto Fenichel , emigrated to the USA with her second husband Thomas Rubinstein and their daughters Eva and Lore. During her studies, Lore was involved in the communist " American Youth for Democracy " (AYD), "a campus and community organization", which was put on the list of organizations banned in the USA in 1949. After she had to endure sanctions up to social isolation due to her membership, she resigned, but did not give up her socio-political engagement. Lore received her doctorate in medicine in 1954 and initially became a specialist in psychiatry. In 1957 she began training as a psychoanalyst. Upon graduation, she focused on trauma research.

From a marriage with the historian Julius Rubin (1921-2004) three children were born.
