Karl Ludwig Randhan , also Carl Ludwig Randhan (* July 25, 1787 in Weißenfels , † May 13, 1840 ibid) was a German physician.

Life

Karl Ludwig Randhan was born as the son of Dr. Johann Ehrenfried Randhan (* 1745 in Rötha ; † unknown) and his wife Johanna Eleonore Böhme (* unknown; † 1788) were born, who practiced as a general practitioner in Weißenfels. His brother was Johann Friedrich Randhan (1776-1813), who worked as a country physician (country doctor) in Weißenfels and a doctor in Langendorf .

Karl Ludwig Randhan attended the city school in Weißenfels and was later from 1800 to 1806 at the Pforta state school in Schulpforte . There he had lessons from the Magisters Friedrich Gottlieb Gernhard (1772–1831), Adolph Gottlob Lange , Johann Gottlieb Schmidt (1742–1820), Karl Christian Gottlieb Schmidt (1776 – after 1840), and Dr. Karl David Ilgen .

On April 18, 1806 he enrolled at the University of Leipzig . There he attended the lectures of Johann Georg Rosenmüller , Christian Friedrich Ludwig , Christian Gotthold Eschenbach (1753-1831), Wilhelm Andreas Haase , Karl Gottlob Kühn , Johann Christian August Clarus and Gottlieb Wilhelm Töpelmann (1775-1814). In 1809 he became a Bachelor of Medicine and on March 8, 1811 he received his doctorate. med. under the rectorate of Hofrat Ernst Karl Wieland . After completing his studies, he traveled to Berlin and Vienna to visit the local clinics. In 1812 he returned to Weißenfels.

On September 14, 1812 he was appointed city and country surgeon by Duchess Louise Eleonore zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg . Shortly afterwards, his older brother Johann Friedrich Randhan, who worked as a general practitioner in Weißenfels, died and Karl Ludwig Randhan took over his practice. The following year, in 1813, he took over the management of the military hospital in Weißenfels, which was closed on November 20, 1815 after the Second Peace of Paris was concluded.

Karl Ludwig Randhan was appointed by the Saxon King Friedrich August I on July 8, 1813, after he had passed the physics examination in Leipzig on May 19, 1813, as an official physician.

In 1815, Weißenfels fell to Prussia as a result of the Congress of Vienna , whereupon Karl Ludwig Randhan was only appointed on an interim basis in 1815 and on April 12, 1820, was appointed district physician ; In the following years he received medical supervision over the country orphanage in Langendorf, the school teacher seminar in Weißenfels and the preparatory and deaf-mute institution. During this time he was also involved in founding the bathing and mineral water drinking establishment in Weißenfels.

On November 1, 1812, he married Henriette Liberte, the second daughter of the merchant and merchant Christian Daniel Warmann in Weißenfels. They had two daughters together:
