Karl David Ilgen

Karl David Ilgen (born February 26, 1763 in Sehna near Eckartsberga , † September 17, 1834 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian, philologist and educator.

Life

Ilgen studied in Leipzig from 1783. In 1789 he became rector of the city school in Naumburg and in 1794 professor of oriental languages ​​at Jena University .

From 1802 to 1831 he was rector of the Pforta State School .

Karl David Ilgen died in Berlin in 1834 at the age of 71. He was buried in the cemetery of the Dorotheenstädtische and Friedrichswerder parishes on Chausseestrasse . The grave has not been preserved.
