from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lorena Kloosterboer (* 1962 in Alkmaar, the Netherlands ) is a Dutch-Argentinean artist who paints pictures in the photo-realistic and trompe-l'oeil style. Kloosterboer is known for her hyper-realistic still lifes in which she objects such as colorful candies, marbles and shells , Cutlery, glass and ceramics. Her pictures have been exhibited and awarded worldwide. As a sculptor, Kloosterboer is also known for a series of bronze sculptures that are on permanent display in Wassenaar . In addition to working as a painter and sculptor, Kloosterboer has already published several books on painting techniques that have been translated into various languages.

Career

Kloosterboer studied art at the Instituto de Bellas Artes Beats Angelico in Buenos Aires , Argentina. She then attended the Scottsdale Artist School in Scottsdale , Arizona for several years . A developing series of paintings called Tempus ad Requiem portray with realism the contrasting textures and surfaces of the man-made porcelain objects and living beings and are intended to symbolize moments of calm and joy in everyday life or to help to find them. Kloosterboer's paintings have been exhibited in many galleries and museums in Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Sculptures

In 1991 Kloosterboer presented her first bronze sculpture, which she named De Nar , which translated means "a fool". The sculpture was commissioned to mark the 25th anniversary of a carnival group in the Netherlands, De Deylknotsen, and can still be seen in the Wassenaar cultural center today. In the following years, Kloosterboer commissioned a series of four bronze sculptures, popularly known as De Boomstronken ( German "the tree stumps"), which are also exhibited in Wassenaar. These sculptures are intended to represent the basic concept of the tree as a habitat for a large number of residents. The top of each of these tribes is developing into a pillar designed to carry this message. Color illustrations of these pieces and their locations are shown in the book Beeldend Wassenaar .
