Lorenz (noble family)
Lorenz is a German noble family that has existed since 1790 . The very wealthy and financially strong businessman and trader Johann Gottfried Lorenz was born on August 7, 1790 at the time when Elector Friedrich August III. of Saxony held the imperial vicariate, while skipping the normal imperial nobility, immediately raised to the imperial baron status. At the same time as him, his children and descendants were also appointed imperial barons.

The family owned several manors not only in the Electorate or Kingdom of Saxony, including Mühlbach and Podelwitz , but also in the Prussian province of Saxony, which was established in 1816 . In 1836 representatives of the family also settled in Silesia.
