Gottfried August Lorenz , 1790 Baron von Lorenz (* 5. December 1776 in Mittweida ; † 22. July 1841 in Dresden ) was a Electoral Saxon, from 1806 Royal Saxon Amtshauptmann and landowner .

Life

He came from the middle-class merchant family Lorenz from the Saxon city of Mittweida, who had been raised to the baron class . Friedrich Freiherr von Lorenz on Burkartshain near Wurzen, Mühlbach and Roitzsch was his brother by a year younger. The parents were Christiana Sophia Scheibe and Johann Gottfried von Lorenz, who died young . The two brothers received private tuition, attended the University of Leipzig and completed their law studies in 1800 with a diploma.

From 1804 to 1806 Gottfried August Freiherr von Lorenz was the owner of the Klettstedt manor in the Electorate of Saxony , which he had acquired for 36,000 Reichstaler. After a short time he left it to Rittmeister Heinrich Adolph von Gablenz , from whom he had previously acquired it, for the same price . He is considered to be the builder of the 1806 mansion in Roitzsch.

In 1828 he was named titular governor.

From his marriage to Constanzia Augusta, born on March 3, 1803 in Lockwitz . von Rumohr († 1825) was born on May 29, 1805 in Dresden, son Ernst Friedrich Gustav Freiherr von Lorenz. Another son was Ernst Gottfried Constantin, the only daughter Ida Constanzia Mathilde married Wilhelm von Schlichten in 1828 .
