Lorenziberg
The Lorenziberg ( 971 m above sea level ) is a mountain and a village with two inhabitants in the municipality of Frauenstein in Carinthia . The elevation represents the south-eastern “porch” of the Gauerstall ( 1129 m above sea level ), looks down on the ducal town of Sankt Veit an der Glan and is the fourth and lowest of the “holy mountains” at the Vierbergelauf .
Various prehistoric traces can be found on the mountain. An earlier rampart can be clearly seen in the area of the church, which can probably be traced back to a late antique to early medieval castrum . Ceramic remains were found northwest of the summit. It is believed that there was a pre-Christian cult site on the Lorenziberg.
The branch church of Lorenziberg , consecrated to St. Laurentius , is visible from afar . The small late Gothic building was first mentioned in a document in 1330. Next to the church is an old block building that houses an inn.
