features

Loricariichthys species are sometimes relatively large, slender and very elongated fish that reach body lengths of 11 to 46 cm. Your abdomen is protected by relatively large, protruding bone plates. Characteristic of the genus are the small, partly only rudimentary teeth in both jaws and a pronounced sexual dimorphism in the formation of the lower lip during spawning , which in males is very large and has a few papillae of the same size, while the females have a smaller lower lip, whose papillae are more numerous and which become larger towards the outside. The head and back of the fish are bristle-free.
