Lorin S. Robert

Lorin S. Robert (born May 7, 1956 in Truk , Karolinen ) is a politician of the Federated States of Micronesia .

biography

After attending school, he studied at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico from 1975 to 1979 and then from 1980 to 1982 at the Faculty of International Relations at the American University in Washington, DC

On his return he was initially a lecturer at the Community College of Micronesia in Truk , before he joined the diplomatic service of the Federated States of Micronesia in 1984 . In 1985 he became deputy head of the embassy in Japan and held this office until 1990. During this time he also completed postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford between 1987 and 1988 .

In 1990 he returned to the Department of External Affairs in Palikir and was initially deputy. Assistant Secretary (Deputy Assistant Secretary) for Asia and from 1996 to 2001 Assistant Secretary for Asia, Pacific and Multilateral Affairs. At the same time he was between 1991 and 2000 Head of curriculum ( curriculum ), and classroom training development services. In 2001 he became Deputy Secretary of State.

On June 29, 2007, he was nominated Secretary of Foreign Affairs by the newly elected President of the Federated States of Micronesion, Manny Mori , and sworn in on July 14, 2007 after approval by Congress.

In his role as Foreign Minister, he is also the Alternate Governor of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank .
