Los Dos y Compañeros is a salsa group from Amberg that sings in the Upper Palatinate dialect .

history

Los Dos y Compañeros was founded in 1996 by Michael Deiml alias Don Michon and Walter Tröster alias Don Macson in Amberg. In addition to a visit to Cuba by Walter Trösters, who then wanted to make Cuban music, a competition organized by the radio show Zündfunk this year was decisive for the foundation, in which the aim was to set the quote “I want to be able to make music” ( Rainer Werner Fassbinder ) to music . That is why one line in her first song was: "Rumba, Mambo, Salsa, Chachacha i mecht Musik machä kenaa". Since the northern Bavarian dialect seemed to fit well with Cuban music and the two wanted to do something innovative anyway, it was decided to write the lyrics in dialect.

Surname

The name Los Dos y Compañeros means something like "The two and their comrades" in German. With 'the two' we mean the two band founders Michael Deiml and Walter Tröster. The similarity with the Bavarian “los des”, in standard German “let that”, is also striking.

Band members

The other band members were won over through contacts with previous bands of the band's founders and their personal relationships. All members took on artist names that are supposed to be reminiscent of Latin American and thus Spanish and Portuguese names, but also relate to their role in the band or their musical instrument. Michael Deiml's name "Don Michon" comes from an American who always pronounced his name as "Mischon". The "Don" in front of it simply means "Lord". Other names are pure fantasy names.

Los Dos y Compañeros consisted of twelve musicians until mid-2010, when Oliver Allwardt and Rainer Berneth left the band and Claus Mager joined the band. The current line-up consists of the following eleven musicians: El Capitan ( Tom Kramer ) on guitar and as manager of the band, Don Macson (Walter Tröster), Don Michon (Michael Deiml), and El Maxcito (Maximilian Braun) as singer or as Small percussionist, Norberto! (Norbert Münnich) on bass, Nacho (Viktor Ariel Diaz-Abreu) as trumpeter, Pedro Real (Peter König) on trombone, Carlos Lopez (Carlos Lopez), the only real Spaniard, born in Madrid, on guitar and José de la Vida (Werner Wiesmeth) on the piano. The rhythm section consists of the three singers of Pocho (Alfredo Rosales) on the Latin drums / timbales and Isan Torres on the congas.

Lyrics

The lyrics of their songs are often about real life events, such as the reunion with an old friend in "Hey Anne", about things that happened to the band members, that they liked or simply influenced them. In addition to songs about relationships with women, relatives, friends or the comforts and adversities of daily life in Upper Palatinate are sung about.

Commercial orientation

The band resists commercial and mass-market music and the exploitation of talented musicians through what they call fic music . This means modern record companies and producers who only sign young, talented musicians for as long as they bring in money and are successful, and then simply leave them to their fate. Los Dos y Compañeros do not want to adapt to this scheme and neither do, because they operate far away from mainstream music.

The music

Luis Frank performed with the band at several concerts in 2010 and 2011 .
