Los Teques

Los Teques Cathedral

Los Teques is the capital of the Venezuelan state of Miranda . In 2001 it had 140,617 inhabitants.

The city was founded in 1777 and named after the Aractoeques Carabs, an indigenous people there. On February 13, 1927, the capital was moved here by Miranda von Petare .

The tequeños popular in Venezuela come from Los Teques. Tequeños are elongated, fried cheese sticks, which the more famous mozzarella sticks are similar.
