Lost Kingdoms (dt. Lost Kingdoms , OT: Jap. ルーン , RUN ) is a two-piece Japanese RPG series of From Software , which for the 2002 and 2003 Nintendo GameCube appeared. The games were distributed by Activision in North America and Europe. The name used for the games in Japan was rune .

Lost Kingdoms

The game is the first role-playing game for the Nintendo GameCube. The specialty lies in the combat system, which is carried out in real time using 105 trading cards of various types. You can choose between English and French voice output.

action

The fictional world of Arbnull is exposed to a dark fog in which people are lost. The protagonist, Princess Katia, is the only one who is able to summon monsters and sets out to save the world with a deck of playing cards.

Gameplay

In the game, the continent of Arbnull can be explored using individual points on the map. The task is to find the rune stones.

As usual in role-playing games, the player must compete against monsters. These fights take place in real time in Lost Kingdoms . During the battles, the player must use playing cards with different properties to defeat the monsters. Objects in the vicinity can be destroyed in order to gain access to hidden playing cards or energy refreshments.

Two player mode

As long as a second Nintendo Gamecube controller is connected to the Gamecube, it is possible to fight against each other. First, both players put together a card deck or choose an existing one. Then the rules are set. Finally, a battle arena is selected and the battle begins. There are two ways that lead to victory:

  1. The enemy hit points are at 0.
  2. The time has run out and the enemy has fewer hit points.

If you want, you can also set up to three cards as a bet. Wins or defeats in 2 player mode do not affect the story mode data. Only on the rank that is on the selection screen for a game file. The rank is also influenced by the number of cards you have. The worst rank is princess, the best master. Incidentally, the rank does not affect the game.

Lost Kingdoms 2

The game principle is essentially the same as in the first part.

100 years after the storyline of the first game, a thief named Tara goes in search of the rune stones because they are supposed to give the owner incredible magical powers.

You can choose between English, French and German language output.
