from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lale Andersen Prize is a culture prize and is awarded by the City of Bremerhaven.

history

The Lale Andersen Prize was launched in 1999 on the initiative of the head of the Bremerhaven Cultural Office , Gisela Lehrke, in honor of the singer Lale Andersen . It is awarded every two years to artists in the genre of sophisticated light music . The prize is awarded by a five-person jury and is currently endowed with 5000 euros, donated by Sparkasse Bremerhaven. The artists appear on the occasion of the award ceremony in the Theater im Fischereihafen .

jury

Members of the jury are Michael Frost, Head of School and Culture of the Seaside City of Bremerhaven , Hermann Rauhe , Honorary President of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , Jörg Göddert, Artistic Director of the Theater im Fischereihafen Bremerhaven, Dorothee Starke, Director of the Hameln Theater , and Wolfgang Rumpf , Head of Music at Radio Bremen .

In the spring of 2012, the jury members decided on a new concept for the prize: the Lale Andersen Prize is to be awarded to legendary singers in the future. The prize money donated by Sparkasse Bremerhaven is passed on to an artist of their choice. This person receives the Lale Andersen Prize. Since the Sparkasse stopped funding in 2014, the prize is on a "break" in order to explore new paths and opportunities.
