Melody Thornton
Melody Thornton (* 28. September 1984 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American R & B - singer , songwriter and dancer . She became known as a member of the Pussycat Dolls , to which she belonged from 2003 to 2010.
youth
Thornton was born in 1984 to a Mexican-American mother and an African-American father. Her talent was first recognized in elementary school when she presented to Mariah Careys Without You . In 2003 she graduated from Camelback High School in Phoenix .
Career
2003-2010: Pussycat Dolls

She heard about the Pussycat Dolls' search for a singer in a special on the MTV series Diary starring Christina Aguilera . After she finished school in 2003 Thornton became a member of the girl band. After her audition, she became the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls in December 2003. So she took over the lead vocals in the first TV appearance at the MTV Asia Awards 2004. The group performed the big band classic Big Spender . Only later, in 2005, did band colleague Nicole Scherzinger become the lead singer. In the group she was nicknamed "Baby Doll" because she was the youngest of the band.
Although Thornton has been a background singer with the Pussycat Dolls since 2005, she also sings the lead on the hit singles Beep , Buttons (both 2005), Top of the World and Taking Over the World (both 2008). The deluxe edition of the second studio album by Pussycat Dolls Doll Domination also features the solo song Space . In 2010 Thornton left the group because they felt they could not get enough vocal parts in the band.
Since 2010: solo career
Her first solo single Go Too Far was released in 2007 between the debut album of the Pussycat Dolls PCD and the second album Doll Domination . The song Go Too Far , a collaboration with Jibbs , reached number 17 on the singles chart in New Zealand. In late 2009 she was a judge on Ryan Seacrest's show Bank of Hollywood , where candidates must convince a prominent jury to invest in their dream. She has been working on her solo debut since 2007, which will be released in 2011. Among others, the producers Polow Da Don and Cee-Lo Green already worked on the project. In 2011, she was in the video clip for the hit single Don't Wanna Go Home by Jason Derulo to see. Her solo album will be called Hit the Ground Running and will be released in 2012. With the album she wants to conclude with her former band The Pussycat Dolls .
In addition to working on her solo album, Thornton released a mixtape called POYBL for her fans. The first single from the album is called Lipstick & Guilt , a cover of the song No Church in the Wild by Jay-Z and Kanye West . The video for the single premiered on March 12, 2012 on Rap-Up.com, where it received many positive reviews.
In 2019 she took part in the eleventh season of the British figure skating show Dancing on Ice .
Her second solo album was released on August 7th, 2020. The songs are based on the genre of the 60 years. The song Phoenix Rise was released as the first single .
