Lothar Biener

Lothar Biener (* 9. August 1935 in Halle (Saale) , † 23. September 2017 ) was a German politician of the SPD . He was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from the 1st electoral term in 1990 until the state elections in 2002 .

Life

After attending high school and evening high school, Biener began an apprenticeship as a forestry worker. He then worked as a production worker in the Halle gasworks. After completing direct studies and distance learning, he graduated as an engineer for gas generation and as an engineer for gas distribution and application. From 1958 to 1959 he worked in the Großgaserei Magdeburg and then for a year at the Leunawerken . From 1960 to 1990 Biener was employed by the energy supply company in Halle in the field of economic energy supply. In 1990 Biener worked for the newspaper publisher “Anhalt”.

Biener was married and the father of two children. He died at the age of 82.

Political party

In 1989 he joined the Social Democratic Party in the GDR (SDP). For many years, Biener was a member or chairman of the SPD city council in Dessau .

MP

Biener had been a member of the state parliament since 1990 and represented the constituency of Dessau II. He did not run again for the 2002 election. He was a member of the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Culture and Media.
