Lothar Dresen

Lothar Dresen (* 1939 ) is a German university professor and geophysicist .

Until his retirement in autumn 2001, he was Professor of Applied Geophysics at the Ruhr University in Bochum and headed the Seismics working group .

Important research topics included a. Model seismics and numerical simulation of seismic wave fields , seam wave seismics for coal exploration , surface wave seismics in engineering geophysics , as well as joint inversion . He took over the scientific management of numerous Mintrop seminars. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Mining and Energy Law at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

He has been a member of the German Geophysical Society since 1964 . On April 9, 1999, he was made an honorary member of the Hungarian Geophysical Society.
