Lothar Herzog (director)

Lothar Herzog (* 1977 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German film director and screenwriter.

Life

Lothar Herzog was born in Freiburg im Breisgau and grew up in Paris. He studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice at the University of Hildesheim and film studies in San Francisco . He worked as an actor in theater productions and produced videos for theater and concerts. Then he studied film directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and made various short films as well as a feature film. Lothar Herzog also leads seminars and workshops and is the author of an online course on filmmaking.

His short films Bonzenkarren and Do you actually know that a lot of flowers bloom in the park have been presented at numerous international film festivals, including the Berlinale and Cannes. Lothar Herzog's first feature film in 1986 premiered at the Zurich Film Festival and was then shown at film festivals in Hof, Minsk, Park City (slam dance ) and Shanghai, among others . The film won the gold award for best director at the Hof International Film Festival, was nominated for best feature film at the First Steps Awards 2019 and won the First Steps NO FEAR Award for best production .
