Lothar Profke

Lothar Profke (born September 23, 1941 ) is a German maths didactic specializing in geometry.

Profke studied mathematics , physics and geodesy at the TH Stuttgart from 1960 , where he obtained his mathematics diploma in 1966, passed his teaching examination in 1967 and received his doctorate in 1969 under Heinrich Brauner (congruent displacement of projective planes in borderline positions). From 1973 he was professor for didactics of mathematics at the University of Giessen . In 2008 he retired .

From 1987 to 1990 he was spokesman for the geometry working group in the Society for Didactics of Mathematics (GDM). In 2000 he received the medal of the Latvian Mathematical Society.
