Lothar Rommelfanger (born November 24, 1957 in Trier ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and an elected member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

After completing secondary school in 1977, Lothar Rommelfanger graduated from a technical college for social affairs with a qualification as an educator. Professionally, he worked in the areas of youth welfare, vocational rehabilitation and pedagogy for the disabled, most recently as a project manager.

Rommelfanger joined the SPD in 1981. He has been chairman of the local association in Wiltingen since 1982 and was first elected to the council of Konz in 1984, where he has been parliamentary group chairman since 2002. In Wiltingen he was a member of the local council from 1984 to 1989 and has been an honorary mayor since 1989. He held a mandate in the district council of the Trier-Saarburg district from 1994 to 1999 and has been a member of this committee again since 2014.

In the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2016 , he was directly elected as a member of the constituency of Konz / Saarburg .

In the state parliament he works as a member of the Committee for Health, Care and Demography and the Committee for Social Affairs and Labor. He is the spokesman for people with disabilities in the SPD parliamentary group.
