Live and act

He had a brother who was employed by the tax authorities. As a former member of the Guard, he later became a valet to His Majesty's, but where he was fired. He then stayed at embassies at various European courts and then returned to Paris. He traveled through large parts of Western Europe and was called the prototype of a bohème writer ( une vie de bohème ).

He translated from English Fanny Hill by John Cleland with the French title of the edition La Fille de Joie ( 1751 ).

In 1757, in the second year of the Seven Years' War (also known as the Third Silesian War), he wrote an anonymous pamphlet with the fictitious place of publication à Minorique under the title Préservatif contre l'anglomanie , which appeared again in 1762 under the title L'Anti-Anglais . It is an anti- British propaganda font, in which Francophone Anglophile authors were also attacked.
