Louis-Toussaint Milandre (* early or mid-18th century, France ) was a French composer who mainly wrote works for the viola d'amore .

Following the brief entry in the biography universelle des musiciens by François-Joseph Fétis, he was a member of the "chambre du roi" under Louis XV. A mass, of which at least the Confiteor was performed at the Concert spirituel in 1768 , and a seven-part symphony (printed in 1778) are also mentioned.

His textbook “Méthode facile pour la Viole d'Amour” op. 5 from 1782 has been preserved, which contains theoretical and practical explanations of viola playing as well as several compositions and arrangements (including Mozart and Rameau ) for the viola d'amore .

Mention in the literature

In Thomas Mann's work Doctor Faustus , Serenus Zeitblom occasionally plays “the Andante and Minuet by Milandre (1770)” at evening parties.
