Louis Alexandre Piccinni ( Luigi Alessandro Piccinni , born September 10, 1779 in Paris , † April 24, 1850 in Paris) was a French composer.

Piccinni came from an Italian family of musicians. His grandfather was the composer Niccolò Piccinni , his uncle the composer Luigi Piccinni . He studied composition at the Conservatoire de Paris with Jean-François Lesueur and then worked as a piano accompanist at the Théâtre Feydeau , from 1802 at the Paris Opera .

From 1803 he was conductor at the Theater de la Porte Saint-Martin , in addition he worked as a singing teacher. From 1836 to 1840 he headed the Boulogne Conservatory and then until 1844 that in Toulouse. He then moved to Strasbourg, from where he directed the Baden-Baden summer orchestra. In 1849 he returned to Paris.

Piccinni composed more than 200 works for the stage, including melodramas, cantatas, vaudevilles and operas, as well as romances, sonatas and piano pieces.
