The Louis Dreyfus Company BV (LDC) is a Dutch , private conglomerate based in Rotterdam . The company operates in the agricultural sector (including citrus fruits, sugar, coffee, cotton), the metal and energy sectors, shipbuilding and the real estate market. The company was founded by Léopold Louis-Dreyfus (1833-1915) and later led by Pierre Louis-Dreyfus .

In 2006 the group was ranked 111th on the list of the largest non-listed companies in Europe by the Financial Times .

In 2007 the shipping division was spun off as Louis Dreyfus Armateurs .

In 2018, the first blockchain- based deal was transacted by selling a batch of soybeans from the USA to Shandong Bohi Industry Co. in China.
