Louis Sigurd Fridericia
Louis Sigurd Fridericia (born February 24, 1881 in Copenhagen , † February 26, 1947 ) was a Danish hygienist .
Life
Fridericia studied at the University of Copenhagen and received her doctorate there in 1906. He continued his studies with Christian Bohr in Copenhagen with Ernst Leopold Salkowski in Berlin and with Georges Dreyer and Francis Gotch at Oxford University . He completed his habilitation in 1910 and was appointed professor of hygiene in 1918. After the Nazis invaded Denmark, Fridericia had to go into hiding and was smuggled into Sweden by friends in a fishing boat in 1943. From there he came to London, where he lived until his homeland was liberated. He was married to the violinist Karen Gelder Fridericia, who served in the Danish brigade during World War II and died a few days after her return to liberated Denmark.
Fridericia formula
The Fridericia formula is an empirically determined mathematical equation for calculating the physiological QT time at different heart rates or for calculating the frequency-corrected QT time (QTc) in the electrocardiogram .
