Louise Kathrine Dedichen (born April 30, 1964 in Oslo ; divorced Bastviken ) is a Norwegian vice admiral and the first woman to have reached the rank of admiral in the Norwegian armed forces .

Military career

After completing his officer training, Dedichen was deployed on the frigates KNM Stavanger , KNM Trondheim (both ships belong to the Oslo class ) and the KNM Tordenskjold school . At times she worked in the military mission in Brussels.

Controversy over appointment as head of defense college

Dedichen's appointment in 2008 as head of the Defense Training Center, renamed Defense College in 2009, is linked to the rank of Rear Admiral. The appointment was followed by a lawsuit, as the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Sverre would have preferred Brigadier General Øyvind Kirsebom Strandman and the Ministry of Defense chose Dedichen. The brigadier general sued on the grounds that she was preferred because she was a woman, not because of better performance. The Norwegian Supreme Court ruled in April 2014 that she had been rightly appointed.

Private

Louise Dedichen is married to Per Høiby, a brother of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette Marit .

In 2008 she played a female officer with Don Johnson in the Norwegian comedy film "Lange flate ballær 2". Dedichen received, among other things, the Ordre national du Mérite and was thus appointed officier .
