Lovely to Look At

Lovely to Look At is a song from the musical film Roberta , composed by Jerome Kern , written by Dorothy Fields , sung by Irene Dunne . Roberta goes back to Jerome Kern's Broadway musical of the same name , but Kern composed two additional songs for the film, namely The Way You Look Tonight and Lovely to Look At .

The song went to the Academy Awards in 1936 with a nomination for “Best Movie” , but Lullaby of Broadway from the 1935 film The Gold Diggers had to admit defeat.

Lovely to Look At has been covered several times, for example by the Eddy Duchin Orchestra, Oscar Peterson , as well as Marge & Gower, Leo Reisman & His Orchestra, Meet Joe Black, Ray Conniff , Ann Miller , Stanley Black & his Orchestra, The Street Singer, Guy Lombardo , Smith Ballew & HO, Ampico Lexington as well as Howard Keel , Benny Goodman , Bert Ambrose , Ziggy Elman , Fred Astaire , Tex Beneke , Morey Feld , Oscar Peterson, David Allyn , Urbie Green and other artists.
