Live and act
After previously working with college orchestras, Leo Reisman founded a dance orchestra , the Society Dance Orchestra , in the early 1920s . Apart from a few tours along the east coast of the USA , he performed at the Hotel Brunswick in Boston . As was customary at the time, Reisman let several ensembles run under his name. In 1929 he had an engagement in New York's Central Park Casino; later he also appeared in the Waldorf-Astoria and toured Europe. During this time he had a hit with the Fats Waller title Ain't Misbehavin ' (with singer Lew Conrad, # 2), as well as Bye Bye Blackbird . Happy Days Are Here Again was another hit in November 1929 with the singing of Lou Levin, followed by Out of Nowhere (1931, # 6). He then scored number 1 hits with Cole Porter Night and Day (1932, with Fred Astaire as singer) and Con Conrads The Continental (1934)
Reisman recorded for the Columbia , Brunswick , Victor and Decca labels . while at Victor Reisman recorded many lesser-known Broadway songs. He also introduced the composers and Broadway artists as his band vocalists, so u. a. Harold Arlen , Fred Astaire , Smith Ballew , Clifton Webb and Arthur Schwartz . In 1931/32 Lee Wiley was given the opportunity for first recordings; and Dinah Shore was one of his singers. The Ellington trumpeter Bubber Miley also participated in Reisman's recordings .
After retiring from the music business, he lived in Miami , where he died in December 1961.
The author Leo Watson states that Reisman described himself as a jazz band leader in the late 1920s. He was also responsible for a number of articles on jazz in a magazine, but was never really a friend of jazz, even if his music had a hot character at times .

In his band the pianist played Eddy Duchin (1909-1951), whose short life in the biopic The Eddy Duchin Story ( The Eddy Duchin Story , Duchy played by Tyrone Power ) is shown. His involvement in the Reisman band is an episode of the film.
