The Low Rock is, as its name suggests, a low marine rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 1.5 km southwest of Stranger Point , the southern extension of King George Island .
The Scottish geologist and explorer David Ferguson mapped a rock in the position of Low Rock when he was sailing aboard the whaler Hanka in these waters between 1913 and 1914. A more precise mapping in 1935 and 1937 and the descriptive naming were carried out by the British Discovery Investigations .
