The Low Summit ( English for low peak ) forms the southern section of the headland Turks Head in the west of the Antarctic Ross Island .
Frank Debenham , participant of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott , gave it its descriptive name.
