Lowell dingus

Lowell Dingus (* 1951 ) is an American paleontologist.

Dingus received his doctorate in paleontology from the University of California in 1984 and worked for three years for the California Academy of Sciences on an exhibition on evolution and in 1987 at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in the vertebrate paleontology department. There he was involved in a ten-year project to renovate the exhibition of the fossil halls. He is the museum's research associate.

From 1991 to 1998 he was involved in excavations in search of dinosaurs of the AMNH in Mongolia (Gobi Desert, Ukhaa Tolgod ). In 1997 he and Luis M. Chiappe discovered a well-preserved sauropod nest in Patagonia . The first sauropod embryos were found there, with skin remains intact. He also excavated in China (Xinjiang Autonomous Region).

He has written books on dinosaurs for both adults and children, and works for the InfoQuest group on popularizing science, primarily evolution, geology and paleontology.
