Lowsar

Lowsar (Chechen: Ловзар, fun or game ) is a dance ensemble of the popular Chechen youth orchestra that tours around the world. It helps spread the traditional Chechen culture.

history

The dance ensemble was founded in 1983 in the Republican Pioneer Palace in Grozny . When the first Chechen war broke out in 1994, the Lowsar group disbanded.

In 1995 the 30 female and male ensemble members got together again and founded Lowsar. Because of the second Chechen war , the dance company had to leave Grozny again and settled in Nalchik ( Kabardino-Balkaria ). The new Lowsar group found new members in exile. Lowsar has received numerous awards from many other countries.

Trivia

Chechen pop singer and dancer Makka Sagaipowa is a member of the dance ensemble.
