Loyn Bridge (or Loyne Bridge ) is a stone arch bridge that spans a small back road off the A693 between the villages of Hornby and Gressingham in Lancashire , England over the River Lune . The current bridge replaced an older structure at this point, which is believed to have been made of wood while the pillars were made of stone. There is evidence that the river was crossed by a ford before a bridge was built. The date on which the existing arch bridge was built is unknown. In any case, the previous structure stood until after 1591, since it was described as "in a dangerous condition" that year. Some sources believe that the bridge was built in 1684, but submissions made to the Quarter Sessions between 1659 and 1693 make this year unlikely. The bridge was funded by the County of Lancashire but was later given to the Lonsdale Hundred for maintenance and repair .

The bridge is made of blocks of sandstone and consists of three arch segments with triangular icebreakers that contain escape bays for pedestrians. The arches have a span of 16.2 m, 19.1 m and 15.8 m. The carriageway is 3.7 m wide, and the largest width of the bridge at its piers is 10.2 m. The structure has not changed much since it was built. The parapets were given newer blocks of stone and the original pavement was replaced with asphalt . When the bridge was examined in 1998, it was found to be sufficient to carry trucks weighing 40 tons. The building was designed by English Heritage in the Grade II * classified as a historic structure located on the listed building
