Luangahu (also: Longahoo , Luagahu ) is an island in the center of Ha'apai in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .

geography

The motu is at a point where the reef, in which ʻUiha is to the east, extends to the west. The Ava Auhangamea Canal forms a northern limit and the Avavahaafonua Canal forms a western limit . In the vicinity are the reefs (rocks) Bowers Rock and Thorn Rock to the west . On the opposite side of the channel is Avavahaafonua Hakau'ata the next island.

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Ha'apai group, Luangahu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
