ʻUiha (also: Ouia , Uia , ʻUiha Island ) is an island in the center of Haʻapai in the Pacific , as well as a small administrative district ( ʻUiha ). Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga . The island has about 450 inhabitants.
geography
The Motu and Tatafa are located south of the Ava Auhangamea Channel , at a point where the reef stretches to the west, where the islets of Luangahu , Hakauʻata and Lofanga rise up alongside other rocks and reef islands. These belong to the Uiha administrative district. To the north there is a partitioned reef fringe with the islands of Uoleva and Lifuka and in the south the islets of Uanukuhihifu , Uanukuhahaki and Tofanga belong to the same reef crown.
Felemea occupies the south of the island .
climate
The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Ha'apai group, 'Uiha is occasionally hit by cyclones .
