Lubbock is a small impact crater on the front of the moon on the edge of Mare Fecunditatis , north of Gutenberg crater and southwest of Messier . The crater is inconspicuous and shallow. It overlies the northern foothills of the Rimae Goclenius .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British banker, mathematician and astronomer John William Lubbock .
