Lucas Horenbout
Lucas Horenbout (also called: Lucas Hornebolte ; * between 1490 and 1495 in Ghent ; † 1544 in London ) was a Flemish miniature painter.
Like his brothers, Horenbout trained as a painter in the workshop of his father Gerard Horenbout . After his father's emigration between 1522 and 1525 - the exact date is unknown - the Horenbout family lived in England and were soon appointed to the royal court. In 1531 Lucas Horenbout was given orders by Henry VIII , and in 1534 he was given a permanent position at the English court. There is no work of art that has survived today that can be clearly assigned to Horenbout.
Lucas Horenbout had Hans Holbein the Elder. J. in the painting apprenticeship, later one of the most important painters of the Renaissance .
