Lucien Foulet

Lucien Foulet (* 1873 ; † 1958 ) was a French Romanist and Medievalist .

life and work

As a rich individual heir, Foulet was not forced to pursue a bread-and-butter job, but because of his unstable psyche, he was not suitable for it in the long term. He was a student and protégé of Joseph Bédier . From 1900 to 1911 he taught in the United States, first at Bryn Mawr College , from 1909 with William A. Nitze in Berkeley. He received his doctorate with the work Le Roman de Renard (Paris 1914, 1968, Geneva 2007).

Lucien Foulet was the father of Alfred Foulet .
