Remarks

  1. Since the cognomen is not given in the inscription, according to Hans-Georg Pflaum, the inscription can be dated to the reign of Augustus or Tiberius (14–37).
  2. According to Hans-Georg Pflaum, the rank of praefectus legionis in Aegyptus corresponded to the rank of legatus legionis in another province, i.e. H. Cirpinius was in command of the Legion; this post was associated with an annual income of 200,000 sesterces . According to Ségolène Demougin, on the other hand, Cirpinius was Praefectus castrorum of the Legion.
