Lucius Titius Optatus
Lucius Titius Optatus was an ancient Roman goldsmith . No known works by him have come down to us. He is only known for his tombstone with epitaphs . This was built in Capua in Flavian times , possibly in the first half of the first century, and distinguishes him as a freedman . On the tombstone, which a Publilia Festia had erected for him and her patron saint Sextus Publilius Truphon, tools were depicted that possibly referred to the profession of Lucius Titius Optatus.
"Publilia / Sex (ti) l (iberta) Fistia // Sex (to) Publilio Sex (ti) l (iberto) / Truphoni patron (o) suo // L (ucio) Titio Optato / aurifici"
"Publilia Festia, freedmen of Sextus, for (1st) Sextus Publilius Truphon, freedmen of Sextus, their patron, and (2nd) for Lucius Titius Optatus, goldsmith"
