background

The song was written by Greg Lake . It's about a man who has everything: wealth, horses, women and who rules his country like a king. He went to war in which he fell and the wealth of which could not save his life. In an interview, Lake said:

"I did write Lucky Man when I was 12. My mum bought me a guitar ... and I learned the first four chords that were D, G, A minor and E minor and with those chords I wrote Lucky Man ."

“I wrote Lucky Man when I was twelve. My mother bought me a guitar ... and I learned the first four chords, D, G, A minor and E minor, and with those chords I wrote Lucky Man . "

Unlike the other pieces on the album Lucky Man , a ballad that of the acoustic guitar is embossed with a Moog synthesizer - solo from Keith Emerson at the end of the song.

Lucky Man was released as a single in 1970 and reached the top 20 in the Netherlands and the charts in Canada and the United States , where it reached number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 . A re-release in 1973 also made it to the US charts.
